Choose a domain for your Home Server with JIOFI3 Router

In the post HOST A WEBSITE IN HOME PC USING JIOFI 3 ROUTER I discuss how to host a website in home PC using JIOFI3 Router. In the post, we use IPV6 address to open the website. We know computers can only recognize IP addresses. But its very difficult to remember IP address. Domain allows you to use internet more easily by allowing you to specify a meaningful name on your web browser instead of using IP address.

So you need a domain and  point it to the IP address of your server, allowing the visitors to your domain name to view the website you want them to view.

There are many hosting companies which provides domain. I choose https://www.hostinger.in/  for my domain. It costs just INR 81/- for one year, thereafter it costs INR 768/- per year.

Firstly, you need to ensure your domain is pointed to nameservers.  Do not change nameservers.

Now you need to delete A (Host) Record, as it is used for IPV4 address. As our IPV4 address is not accessible. So go DNS Zone and  delete A (Host)  Record as shown.

Now we need to update AAAA (IPv6 Address Record)

Add IPV6 address of your home server and save it. It takes some time  to point your domain to your IPV6.  When your IP address changes, just update it. Sometimes you may find domain not pointing to your IP, you can delete DNS Zone and Reset to default.
